Image of the wooden kii found at Waialua.—We saw the kii of Kealia, one of the god idols of Hawaii nei, found in the pond at Waialua; its picture was printed in a children’s newspaper, and it is in the room of Rev. S. C. Damon [Rev. S. C. Demona]. That kii is very similar to the kii that was recently projected by the photographer C. L. Chase [C. L. Keki, probably H. L. Chase]. How frightening.
[Does anyone know what “children’s newspaper” this article is talking about? There is an illustration appearing in Ke Alaula, January 1868. It describes the kii as being found by Mataio Kekuanaoa from a fishpond at Kalia, Paalaa Uka, in Waialua.]
