KAMEHAMEHA SCHOOL.
On this Wednesday, at Kamehameha School, a gathering of remembrance was held on the birthday of the Princess Pauahi Bishop, the open-hearted one who set aside the school as a place for the youth of this new generation of Hawaiians to go to be educated. Speeches were given, each speaking of the great works of our alii who passed, before a large audience that was invited; and there were speeches of encouragement to inspire thoughts about learning in the Hawaiian youths; and for all times will the name of the warrior to whom belonged the hammer which built peace in these Islands be intoned, and Pauahi Bishop as well, for educating the natives of Hawaii nei.
Therefore, from here forth, the 19th of December shall always be celebrated, that being the birthday of the one who established Kamehameha School that stands today.
